Which of these players do you think will be on the yankees roster in 2009 and why?

This offseason, the yankees really need to focus on getting healthier and getting younger. They need better bench players. They need to figure out what to do in centerfield and whether Johnny Damon is gonna play in CF or as the LF. Melky Cabrera is the long term solution. He's hit .200 since may, and I think at this point in his career, he's nothing more than a 4th outfielder. Not a starter.

I think the yankees we'll sign Abreu and keep Nady. Both of them have been great this year! But that leads to this question; If Nady is in LF, can Damon play CF?

I don't know. Nady may play at DH sometimes and switch with Damon. He may even play 1b.

I think Giambi will be gone. He really can only play 1B and DH. More importantly, I not gonna buy that whole "mustache power". Seriusly, how desperate do you have to be to resort to superstitions.

I think they'll trade Matsui for a solid reliever. He's in the final year of his contract, he's 37, and he's coming off knee surgery.

Posada is gonna be back as the starting catcher. He has three years left on his contract. And he's coming off a season where his health has been put into question. Can he be a full time C? Should the yankees keep Ivan Rodriguez?

As for Mike Mussina, he's been solid this season, but I don't know how much the yankees want him. Ultimatley, I think they will keep him as #3 starter to keep experience in that rotation.

I don't know about Andy Petitte. He's been pretty shaky in his last couple of outings. And he was close to retiring in 2006.

Finally, there is no doubt about Marte. He'll definetely be gone after october.

well first off Nady is under contract for next year so he will definitely be with the yankees. good thing too he's a h**l of a player.  

ok the rest.  Giambi gone. we finally get out of that bust of a long term contract that has hampered us for years.  yay.

Damon gone.  his contract is up and i thought it was a mistake to sign him for such a long term deal in the first place.  he was a bust.  and despite his average i think he's mediocre at best.

Pettite gone.  if he'll take a two year deal maybe id sign him but he's clearly not the Pettite of old.  so iono.

Mussina has been the team MVP.  if he accepts a one year deal which i doubt he would i would resign him.  he's bounced back big time.  

Abreu gone.   with Nady on the team there is no need to resign Bobby.  Nady is the better player in my eyes.  they need to sign a centerfielder for sure.  left field you could go with Matsui and Christian platoon.

Pudge is a goner.  i really feel that he threw this team off center a bit when he joined the team.  its tough to learn a pitching staff in a pennant race.  

Marte im not sure what his contract looks like but if it expires i wouldnt resign him.  

bottom line

the yanks are in desperate need of a star centerfielder and an ace.  plus they have to go after Texiera at first with all the contracts coming up they should make a big splash this offseason.

Andy Petitte- Thats a Maybe this year has been good and bad , his elbow needs to be healthy

Bobby Abreu- they should keep him is a solid guy is patient and can hit

Xavier Nady- Maybe is a good offensive guy

Melky Cabrera- He gone

Hideki Matsui- He is getting old one of the good yankees, but he is old
