My parents and I have been looking at cars for a few months now and seeing as my mom wants my car to be within the past 2 years or so we have narrowed it down to a couple choices. First, a 2008 toyota corolla (purchased from private seller) with 15k miles, power options, ABS and automatic. The second option would be a 2007 pontiac g5 with all of the same options, however it has 30k miles. This would be purchased from a dealer, the toyota corolla is priced at 13,700 and the pontiac g5 is priced at 13,900. I am sure we could negotiate the g5 down some but i'm not sure about the corolla. Anyways, please post your thoughts on which of these two options would be better or if you have another suggestion please post it. Keep in mind that due to my mom there is no way I could get anything older than an 05 regardless of the deal... Also keep in mind that our budget is $14,000 or less

  1. If I were you I would choose the Toyota Corolla. Great gas mileage, and reliability.

  2. I'd say go with the Toyota...but I would also check out the civic

go to edmunds.com for a review of any car you are interested in.

    Good luck!

  3. Toyota Corolla- Its newer, safer, more reliable, better on gas, and has better resale value.

The pontiac is a re badged Chevy Cobalt, which has extremely low reliability ratings. It has horrible resale value, and the interior is really cheap and toy car like.

  4. Well the Corolla sounds like a good deal because it is practically new for a good price.  The G5 is a little expensive for the millage plus it doesn't have the reliability that toyota does.  I recommend a civic 06 and newer since it is more stylish than the corolla with the same features and same reliability.
