Which of these would you recommend and why ?

What are the main advantages of these three best selling genealogy programs :

1. Family Tree Maker 2008

2. Roots Magic

3. Family Historian

Ancestry.com has a free online family tree maker .Myheritage is also free and very easy to use

I think all of these companies offer a trial download.

Pick a weekend, download the trial to all three and enter the same 10 people into each one. Then play around with them. Export a GEDCOM from one and import it into another. Try the merge feature and see if everything merged correctly.

Experiment for a day and find out which one *feels* like the way you think and has the features you want to use.

I've used RootsMagic since it was Family Origins v1. A new version is due out any time now and I always recommend it.

prolly none. all most scientists like to do is lie about genetics to make a race feel bad, when they know themselves it isn't true.

I have done 7 different Familiy trees, and use Family Tree Maker. . .have tried Roots, but not the other one . . . .still like #1. It's just easier to follow . .
