Hi there, can you tell me which one I have to go for? a 2002 CR-V (realtime) or a 2001 RAV-4 (50/50)? The Ravs have 2.0 L engine and the cr-v 2.4L

Rav is better looking regarding the last side windows which gives it better look and cr-v correct it in recent year models. I mean if you look at a CR-v from sides, you can not see any difference between a 1997 and a 2002 until you look at theheadlights. But toyota has different look from previous generation.

Now Gas consumption these days and hourly charge of the dealers...!

Which 1 is better.

  1. With regard to reliability, the 2001 Toyota RAV4 and the 2002 Honda CR-V are nearly identical. The 2001 RAV4 has a Reliability Percentrank of .95 and the 2002 CR-V has a Reliability Percentrank of .93, on a scale of 0.00 to 1.00.

With regard to engines and transmissions, a Toyota engine and a Honda engine are usually quite comparable in reliability and durability; however, Toyota's transmissions appear to be more reliable and durable.

With regard to fuel economy, the RAV4 surely has a higher EPA estimated in-city and on-highway fuel efficiency; however, AutoOnInfo.net's reviews go back only to 2005, so I don't have a good source for exact values.

  2. While I love Toyotas, when I was in the market back then for a used small SUV, I bought the CR-V. It was the better vehicle for the money. The RAV gets about 2 mpg better gas mileage but the CR-V is 12 inches longer, and if you want to have people sit in th back, you have to get the CR-V. The RAV was just too small back then. The CR-V also offers more standard equipment and is just as reliable. I'm not sure about the transmissions being more reliable on the RAV. My CR-V had191,000 miles on it when it was stolen from me in June of 2006. That truck never gave me even one problem and ran like it did at 34,000 miles.Drive both and you'll see what I mean.  By the way, both 4 wheel drive systems are similar. They just use different terms for them.

  3. I would get the CR-V. More fun to drive, more reliable, quicker, more room.
