Which one came first... Just wondering?

I was just wondering which came first, Vampire Knight or Twilight? I read on a lot of websites that VK is very similar to the Twilight Series.

Vampire Knight premiered in January 2005.

Twilight was published October 5, 2005.

So, looks like VK came first.
