  1. Cirrus clouds are characterized by thin, wisplike strands, often accompanied by tufts, leading to their common name of 'mare's tail'.

Cirrocumulus clouds are high-altitude cloud, usually occurring at 16,000-40,000 feet. Like other cumulus clouds, cirrocumulus clouds signify convection. Unlike other cirrus clouds, cirrocumulus include liquid water droplets, although these are in a supercooled state.

Cirrostratus clouds are thin, generally uniform clouds, composed of ice-crystals, capable of forming halos. When thick enough to be seen, they are whitish, usually with no distinguishing features.

Altostratus is a cloud belonging to a class characterized by a generally uniform gray sheet or layer, lighter in color than nimbostratus and darker than cirrostratus.

Altocumulus (Alto, "high", cumulus, "heaped") is a cloud belonging to a class characterized by globular masses or rolls in layers or patches, the individual elements being larger and darker than those of cirrocumulus and smaller than those of stratocumulus.

So, you could live under all of these types of clouds.

The ones closest to earth would be the Cirrus clouds, so those would be the ones that you would be living most directly under. =)

  2. don't wanna rain on your parade, but this question's got me all clouded up, weather you like it or not.

  3. Interesting question.  You could live under any one of those clouds.  None of them are in themselves hazardous.
