  1. i think that you should play rugby because its more interessing (and i just think its much better than american football, LOL)

  2. Why choose.

I'm a kiwi and I love watching American Football.  Rugby is our No 1 sport.  I understand rugby better than American Football but it is still a great spectacle.

I would love to see the top Super 14 finals being played on the under card or what we call the curtain raiser to the Superbowl or maybe the winners of the Super 14 play the  European champions for the title.  That would be great and it would introduce the American public to our sport.

Unfortunately the Americans might take a liking to the sport and the rest of the world won't stand a chance.

  3. i personally dislike any sport that involves fluttering around in g*y looking silky shorts, but thats just my opinion. i like football.

  4. If just one choose Rugby. I would choose both

  5. rugby union preferably league is ok as well. american football is alright to watch i suppose but its completely dominated by money and not to mention all the breaks. rugby is faster, more skilful and tactics are needed more. you also need to be able to do a lot more than just kick a ball you have to pass, tackle and kick not just one and whats up with all the padding in football. and you have to be a LOT fitter

  6. Rugby everytime!

I played in the UK for 8 years and it was the best sporting time of my life!

  7. if you play American football then you will be limited to one position doing only what that specific position allows you to do. if you are a blocker then you block, if you are a wide receiver then you receive the ball, if you are a quarter back then you throw the ball. personally it could get pretty boring unless you are quarter back or a ball runner.

if you play rugby then you are all the above in one position. you cant block but you can blindly obstruct oppostion players, but you will be able to throw the ball as well as catch the ball and make a few tackles in between. i think you should play rugby because of its excitement and physical satisfaction after the game.

  8. Depends, if you are a man, then rugby.  If you are a girly man, then football

  9. It's all personal preference but i choose American Football. Rugby is pretty good its manlier i guess but idk there's just something better about football, since I've played football its a personal favorite.

  10. I'd suggest trying out for the one in your area that has the best team in terms of when you can train and days they play. Also look at how good the coaches are and what resources they have. If you find that your skillset isn't suited to that sport or you really dont like playing it as much as you thought you would, then swap to the other one. It should be based at least partly your enjoyment of the game, as well as how well you adapt.

  11. american football is more popular. rugby is weird.

  12. I have played both.  Rugby.

  13. I guess it would depend on what you want to get out of the sport and where you are in your life.  Rugy is a much more social game.  My fellow ruggers are more like family than friends.  I have never played football though... but i know the rugby socials are fun... what other sport can you leave all the fight on the field and sit next to your opponent and have some beers and sing some songs together.  If you're looking to find life long friends and have a great time... then rugby is the way to go.

Rugby also is more versatile...  more different body types and skill levels can play together at the same time.

You need less equipment for rugby!!  just some boots and a mouthguard!

  14. if you are up for a rough sport, choose rugby.  those guys hit harder without pads.  i also perfer playing rugby because it is more active.  fotball can be kinda slow, play for 10 seconds, take 3 minutes to think of what to do next.  if you feel as if you cant take too much physical abuse, take the slightly less rough sport of football

  15. First - get over the macho rugby vs. football stuff.  They are both solid, contact sports.  Rugby requires more stamina, football more pure speed and power (in short bursts).  Rugby is a 'adapt on the field', players game... football is very controlled, run by the coaching staff.

I have played both, been injured in both, and greatly enjoyed both. It depends what you are looking for in  a sport. The biggest difference is the culture. Rugby is all about the culture, both on and off the field. Social events are great.

If I had it all to do over again, I would have started with rugby, most people of all shapes and sizes can find a place to be a solid contributor to rugby, this isn't necessarily true in football. I also think the football positions limit what you can do in the game unlike rugby.

So - if you like a specific range of tasks, lots of power and speed in a specialist task run by the coaches and QB, and you are built for it - play football.

If you want an all out stamina game, where you have to be able to do everything - kick, run, tackle and adapt on the fly - play rugby.

  16. Choose rugby. period!
