OK, there is a hidden agenda behind this question.  A few years ago, the media reported frequently on shark attacks  - in reality, shark attacks were lower that year than in previous years. But the heightened amount of reporting led people to believe that shark attacks were more numerous than they actually were.

In another year, tornadoes were frequently reported upon. Once again, people are more likely to feel that tornadoes were more prevalent in that year than they were normally.

So my answer depends, in part, upon media presentation.
