I am good at science and math, but sucks at writing essay. which one should I take , SAT or ACT. I heard that first we have to take writing and math tests, and then after that we take the subject of our choice. is that right? or should I take both SAT and ACT? I don't know much about this thing because I am only a 10 grader. thanks. Can you explain further more because I don't know anything about those two tests. thank you for your time

  1. Writing is very important to both tests, and to college in general.

Take both if you can. The SAT is most important, I would say. The new SAT (class of 2006 and beyond) has 3 sections. 1 is math, a reading section and an essay.

Then you can choose to take the SAT subject tests later on. Go to http://www.collegeboard.com its the official site of these tests and will give you the most information on not only the SAT and act, but on colleges and related topics as well.

  2. Even though both test for at math and somewhat science, you do need to improve your writing because in college you will be writing essays all the time.

  3. there is not a better! they are both the same! it just depends on where you live and the university's preference! like i know in the Midwest, ACT is more proffered! in east-west coasts SAT is proffered!

they both have math, science and English/writing tests!

  4. My advice: take the ACT. The ACT tests on what you have learned in school, while the SAT tests on your reasoning skills. For most people, the ACT proves easier. I, for example, only scored a 2000 on my SAT but scored a 33 on my ACT (which translates to a 2190 on the SAT). As for colleges, almost all of them accept either of the tests, and show no bias towards either test. Since you are only a sophomore though, I would definitely recommend that you take both to see which is stronger. After that, you should take the test you scored better in again after studying for it, that is what I am doing. (I'm going for a 35 on the ACT).

    Good Luck!
