Which one is better ? HV30 or HDR-HC9 ?

Does someone has experience with the above models ? Which one is better and why ? Thanks.

  1. I would go for the Sony as it has shown better image quality over the Canon in numerous tests (see 1st link below) and is usually cheaper.

    The HDR-HC9 also has great features like Sony's superb night shot mode.


  2. It depends on your requirements...

    HV30 does 24p and 30p. HC9 does not.

    HC9 does "SmoothSlowRecord". HV30 does not.

    HC9 has a built-in infrared emitter for capturing monochromatic video in zero light. HV30 does not.

    Otherwise, they both do 1080i (HDV), standard definition (DV), use miniDV tape, transfer video over firewire, have a mic jack and manual audio control, have manual zoom/focus/exposure capabilities... and can take stills that save to a memory card.
