ps3. both are great and virtually the same thing but with a few differences in exclusives. but ps3 is cheaper in the long run, so that's why i pick it

I like the Xbox 360 better. I think that a lot of people agree with me. They both have their problems though. The 360 has a problem with overheating and the ps3 has a lack of up scaling (if your tv does 1080i but not 720p, expect to play in 480p) and it overheats (but not as much as the 360).

You can buy an external cooling fan for the 360 though (I am not sure about the ps3).

Anyway, I like the 360 better.

pretty much in general ps3 is more of a multimedia machine.

360 isn't that bad, but microsoft really has to consider fixing the RROD for good! even the elite's can get the RROD

I do agree with Mac. I own the PS3 and I like it very much. I think the PS3 is more custamizable and something you can do more moding to. Altho it costs more you get a Blu-Ray player in it, a bigger hard drive (which you can upgrade) and the gaming network is free, unlike the X-Box 360. It also had better graphics then that X-Box 360 has, mainly because it uses a blu-ray player, this also makes the games longer. But the X-Box 360 has a wider game selction and the games are not quite as much as the PS3 games are. You can also put other operating systems on the PS3 like Linix Yellow Dod. I think you should get a PS3 if you have PS2 games (beware only the 80gb and 60gb PS3 will play previous PS games). The PS3 is really something you should get if you have other sony systems like the PSP because you can use it as an addon in some games and use the remote connect feature that puts the PS3 screen on your PSP's screen and acsess your PS3 on your PSP. It's all about what you want, if you got the money and other playstation gaming systems, go with the PS3 system. Otherwise it might be a good idea to go with the X-Box 360.

I currently own both and prefer the xbox 360 over the PS3 anyday becuase it is just simply more fun to play because of its large variety of games to choose from like Halo 3 and Gears of War and soon to be Gears 2 which is going to be a big hit.

How i see it is that 360 is for online gamers, and the ps3 is for amazing graphics. But my opinion PS3 all the way.

The PS3 is the first Blu-Ray 2.0 compliant device. Blu-Ray is the next generation standard media. Blu-Ray can store upto 50 GBs of data (dual-layer, 25 GB single layer) and is supported by major movie studios as an HD viewing format.

Microsoft banked on online distribution of HD videos, primarily Netflix for movies. Bad idea, not everyone gets unlimited download, many users are restricted by their service providers at a monthly download limit. Not everyone gets a fast internet connection, there's still a significant amount of people (and still many Americans) that use dial-up. I dont expect the Xbox to grow through this.

Playstation sports higher calculation power than the 360. The PS3 uses the Cell BE (with 8 SPEs)  while the 360 relies on a phasing-out PowerPC (3 cores) instruction. The PS3 uses the RSX while the 360 uses Xenos which is more powerful, but the PS3 compensates by letting it's SPEs calculate as to how the developers choose.

The Playstation 3 uses the PSN while the 360 has Xbox LIVE. PSN is free of charge while the Xbox LIVE requires payment of $ 50-60. Services are identical (i dunno why Microsoft wants you to pay to fully* interact online, *Xbox LIVE Silver, free of charge, very useless).

Playstation games library is broadening quick in-tie with its quickly expanding fanbase (PS3 sales are growing 38.7% faster than the 360, from FY2006Q3 to FY2008Q1) which include an excellent variety of genres. Notable titles include:
