  1. At the moment Avira is the top one they are always on top of new alerts.

  2. I say go with Avast... And yah you cannot have both or they will conflict with each other... Get this- http://superantispyware.com/

  3. Avira! Avira has a higher detection rate! You do not want both Avira and Avast on your PC. It will cause a conflict between them.

Avast is not that good. Even AVG has a higher detection rate than Avast...

You will need an antivirus and antispyware, so I think registry booster and spyware doctor is okay on your computer.

I have Avira, CCleaner (for registries), Adaware 2008, and SpywareBlaster.

  4. Hi

    You can read this:

    http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-fre...

AntiVir free is lighter (uses less memory and resources) and has VERY strong heuristics. However, it does not have anti-spyware protection.

Avast has much more real-time shields than AntiVir (though these are not really necessary, just extra protection) and it is anti-virus and anti-spyware protection. However, it consumes quite a bit of memory and the detection of viruses is slightly lower than AntiVir.

Yes, you should not run both at the same time, there's a large chance of conflicts. If you have a reasonably fast computer use Avast, if it is not so fast use AntiVir. They are both excellent, ultimately you have to choose which one you use.

I strongly suggest you get rid of Registry Booster. Use a free disk and registry cleaner such as CCleaner. It is popular, safe and effective.

I recommend you replace Spyware Doctor with ThreatFire free and occasionally scan with Superantispyware free and Malwarebytes Antimalware free.

The reason is Spyware Doctor's detection is not so good and it consumes a lot of memory. However, their ThreatFire component (which they have a free unrestricted version of ) is excellent and considerably lighter. Superantispyware and Malwarebytes Antimalware and currently the top anti-spyware because of the excellent detection against realworld threats. They both have very fast updates times as well.
