  1. XP is supposedly better ~ I've known a few people who purchased Vista & say that installing software programs other than the ones Microsoft allow you to install, download & use, is almost an impossibility, or there is way too much you have to know about the system to get other unsupported programs to work with Vista.

Also, if you upgrade to Vista, & decide you don't like it & want to go back to XP, it may not be possible to downgrade back to XP ~ I'm not sure if this has been brought in yet, but I did hear talk of it a while ago.

  2. xp i think

  3. A lot of people feel XP is better because they feel more comfortable with the familiar interface. It also takes less resources to run it. Plus it works with older hardware.

Vista on the other hand has many new features that are not available in Windows XP and will not work with many of the older programs.

Now the news. Effective 6/30/2008 Microsoft no longer sells XP and this will expand to include authorized PC Builders effective 12/30/2008.

This means you may as well get Vista 32 (Premium or higher from experience) and get used to it.  If you want Vista 64, you will find a lot of software out there still needs to play catch up before the 64 bit version is viable. Also do not settle on a PC with out 3 gig of RAM on the 32 bit version and 4 gig of RAM on the 64 bit version.

As to the reason the acceptance of Vista is slow, blame Microsoft for their infinite wisdom of renaming and moving many key features that users need and were used to. And the ACL is a total pain. Are you Sure? YES.

If this is the best Microsoft could do to protect the OS, than the OS was not ready for release (in my opinion anyway).

So just get Vista32 Premium with 3 gig of RAM and you will be covered for the next 2 years.

  4. XP vs. Vista on the same hardware, XP wins.  Vista besides the new interface requires better hardware.  Not going to attack Vista but most people that are used to using XP don't like the switch to Vista.  The corporate world is not interested in it and most workstations aredowngraded back to XP.

  5. Linux

  6. it depends .... if you have better processor ( better then dual core .. ) .. tons of RAM ( more then or at least 2 Gb ) ... sweet graphic card ... then i guess , Vista rocks ...

otherwise , stay stick on XP ....

its kind of same question people asked when XP came for first time ... and 98 was there ...

ya.. its true .... linux is the best ...

  7. Hi

Win XP is slighter faster than VISTA but Vista is almost un-crashable . If it does crash which I doubt, it will fix itself automatically. Not so with Win XP.

I suggest Vista but you are the boss.  If you want stability, Vista is the one for you.
