  1. an airplane and helicopter has a lot of little thingies which make the interfaces complicated and the blades are dangerous

  2. I learned in helicopters first in the army. Never even been in a small aircraft before. Time to solo seemed to be about the same in helicopters as the guys learining fixed wing. It's simply different. One is no more difficult than the other. Doubt anybody will agree but I wonder how many have thousands of hours in each.

  3. airplane anytime easier.

  4. Helicopter by far.

  5. An airplane is an aerodynamic body that creates lift to extend it's downward trajectory. A helicopter is a mass that would glide like a rock unless it's wings can rotate to assimilate lift.

    You choose.

  6. Helicopters are more difficult all-around...especially for maintainers.

  7. airplane is much easier to learn to fly

  8. both are easy

  9. Airplane is easier and helicopter is more complicated.

You can think of it like this, helicopter has the capability of Airplane but not the otherway around.

  10. Without question, a helicopter was more difficult to learn.  I've flown both, but I always am more on the edge flying a helo.  I'm a military pilot (UH-60s) and have flown 4 variations of the military helicopter.  Airplanes just weren't as much of a challenge, but I can sure cover distance twice as fast!

  11. Airplane!  Ask any experienced pilot, they'll all confess.............."a helicopter is one mankinds most un-

forgiving tools.  At least with a plane, if you make an error in judgement or equipment error, you can work around it.  With a helicoptor, there' s not forgiving, no working around it".  But a good helicopter & pilot are the "Harley-Davidsons of the sky.

  12. I don't know for a fact (they both seem hard to me), but my guess would be a chopper is easier to fly than a plane.

Of course I could be wrong, but it just seems that way to me.

  13. As it relates to the mechanics of flying the Helicopter is much more difficult.

The helicopter takes more finesse and requires the operator to hover.

Once moving and pointed in the desired direction they are about the same.

Helicopters also don't glide in when the engine goes out. They generally fall like rocks.

I have flown both and while learning to hover it was difficult to stay in a football stadium sized area without assistance from an experienced pilot.
