  1. dual core is slightly faster when running complex tasks like games or running basic tasks with like antivirus scans in the background the pentium 4 is faster when doing simple tasks like word one at a time

  2. for gaming and other single threaded activities definitely the 3.06. 1.60 for multitasking but i would go with the 3.06. 1.60 dual core is just too slow.

  3. you'll notice a big improvement on any tasks\games that utilize dual core CPUs.

  4. 3.2 GHz  > 3.06 GHz, but like the user above me said, Dual Core makes your computer run faster when multitasking many, many different programs at once, because the tasks generated by those programs are distributed among the multiple processors, be it two, three, four, etc.

The single processor is a little faster for running a few tasks in the background of your computer.

In today's computer of computers, we run lotsa programs. I say the Dual Core will be faster in most cases.
