  1. CFL starts from 5 watt to 16 watt and saves more energy than tubelight

  2. If you take in the cost of manufacturing a ballast for each CFl as opposed to just replacing a t12/t8/t5 bulb, the definition of most efficient becomes more interesting.

The new ballasts in the non CFL bulbs last much long than the ballast in a CFL.  The better ballast actually turn on faster, as opposed to how slow a CFL does after time.

I vote regular tube light fixture, or even the little circular ones with an electronic ballast (in the fixture) not on the bulb.

  3. They're very close.  Some CFLs are slightly more efficient than some tubelights, some slightly less.

A CFL is just a tubelight wrapped in a spiral to fit in the space of an incandescent bulb.  The principle of operation (and so the approximate efficiency) is the same.  They're both "fluorescent lights".

A typical 13 watt fluorescent provides about the same light as a 60 watt incandescent bulb.

  4. A linear tube fluorescent light and CFLs use the same technology to produce light.  The electricity stimulates mercury to release electrons that will react with the phosphor coating (white powder) on the glass tube to produce visible light.

As the diameter of the tube decreases, the light output of the lamp increases.  This is because in a wider tube, the teeny tiny electrons have further to travel to react with the phophor and make visible light.  The CFL has a much smaller tube size, so more of the electrons are able to react with the phosphor to create light.

Most CFL companies have T3 size CFLs, but I found this company that has T2 size CFLs - http://www.earthmatelighting.com

The smaller tube size makes it more efficient.

  5. Energy saving. CFL scores over Tubelight.

23 watt CFL = 40 watt Tubelight, in addition TL Choke consumes additional power.
