  1. in land weather is less variable.

  2. I am sorry but Zy is wrong.

Coastal regions are influenced by the sea that is a huge temperature regulator. Daily temperature variation is much less near the coast than inland.

Inland desertic places like the Gobi desert or the Sahara see very huge daily differences; from burning sun at midday, to freezing cold at night. Along any coastline, that difference is much less.

Local rain can happen on the coast as the result of a sea breeze, as in the mountains due to orographic convection. Very large rain regions as found in low pressures pass just the same over coastal and inland regions. Winds will blow usually stronger near a coast and the risk for thunderstorm increases with the mountains.

  3. The above answer is correct.

Coastal weather is much more constant and less variable with respect to prevailing winds and temperature.

Inland locations have high variability usually proportional to the continentiality of the region.  Places in Siberia can have extreme temperature changes between just the high and low one day.  Think of San Diego as an example of a coastal weather regime. They have a very persistent weather pattern.

    Coastal is less variable.

Although, this is a very loaded question...

  4. coastal weather is more variable.

coastal regions are more susceptible to the effect of currents (eg the labrador drift which cools down the N Am summer a lot).

proximity to water also means more cloud cover = increased precipitation

though water moderates heat gain. cos it takes something around 5 time more energy to heat up water (due to its high heat capacity), hence, water loses and gains heat less easily.  coastal regions are, in this way, less susceptible to temperature change.

    it's a fine balance

  5. Both are very variable, but inland tends to be more stable. Living near mountains will lead to more rain etc. Land helps to kill wind and rain.
