Question:

Which one is smaller?

So its: negative 1.25, negative 1/6, negative 1/3, and positive 1.5.

Is this correct, or does negative 1/6 needs to switch place with negative 1/3?

It's suppose to be in order from least to greatest!

HELP! I'm putting this in a number line.

  1. It goes -1.25 < -1/3 < -1/6 < +1.5

    1/3= .333333

    1/6=.166667

  2. It's easier when you have all the numbers in the same way instead of fractions and decimals

    -1/6 = -.1666

    -1/3 = -.3333

So yeah you have to switch the 1/6 and the 1/3 .

just dived the top by the bottom number to get your decimal value from the fraction

  3. -1.25 happens to be the smallest. I know it seems weird, but negative numbers work opposite positive numbers. The way I normally think of it is: take off the negative all together. When you have no negative, it's the largest number that is the smallest as a negative and a positive number is always going to be the bigger ones. So, I think you just need to realize the number line:

(-)1.25---(-)4/5---(-)1/3 and so on up to (+)1.5, so the smallest is the farthest to the left: 1.25

The other two answers you should be able to figure out yourself with this information. If you need more help, email me at lickety.split92@yahoo.com
