Question:

Which one makes your skateboard ride smoother on rough asphalt and make it to where the wheels won't stop ded?

riser pads or shock pads or do i have to like have a shock pad on one side and riser pad on the other to get both. i just started skateboarding about a week ago so i dont have any idea how things like those work. thank you

  1. Shock pads will take a little of the road vibration out of the ride.  The best thing is to get bigger, softer wheels.  Big wheels go over obstacles in the road better and softness smooths out the ride better.  The disadvantage is it will be harder to do flip tricks.  If you are just using the board for cruising, this is the best option.  If you have the money, get the big wheels and a set of bearings for cruising and keep your smaller wheels for tricks, just change them out when you change types of skating.

  3. If you have bad asphalt you could get cruise wheels (made of rubber) just for riding on that asphalt. None of my friends use raiser pads or shocks.  They don't really do anything so I wouldn't use them. I tried some Ccs raisers and I didn't feel a difference. Or you could find another skate spot with smooth asphalt or concrete.
