  1. Eight straight 200 hit seasons, with special note for the 262 in a season. He is a machine.

  2. Hands down #2.  You have to be consistently great to accomplish a feat this record.  You can knock him for not technically being a true rookie when he came into the MLB and this guy hits are mostly slap singles and his SLG is low.  Someone that is putting up similar stats with more power and RBI's is Michael Young with Texas.  Not saying that he is better than Ichiro overall but this guy may up up having a HOF career without anyone noticing.

  3. i find the 200 hits per season for 8 straight years to be the most astounding...to have that many hits means that you have to not only be a great hitter, you have to stay healthy for all those years to get 200 hits, which to me makes it more impressive than the .300 batting average

  4. the 200+ hits is amazing

  5. 704 AB's and 262 hits in 2004

  6. #5 is a rather poor stat to point out, a .900 fielding % would mean that he got to at least 9 or 10 plays, that's pretty bad, even 95 out of 100 is bad for an OF.

262 is the most impressive and that comes with the caveat that we know it means he doesn't draw walks.

MVP and ROY in the same year is another one, probably his 2nd biggest accomplishment.

Just an offsetting note here, when Boggs did 7 years of 200 hits, he also walked between 89 and 125 times as well.

Much more impressive than 200 hits and 40 walks.  Ichiro has only gotten over 50 walks in a season once.

  7. Number 2: 200 hits for 8 straight seasons.

First off, he (I believe) is the only player in the history of baseball to do this. Most people would be glad to do that in 1 year, and Ichiro has not only done it for 8 straight years, but his 8 only years. Albeit he wasn't a true rookie, that's still amazing.

Also, this speaks to his durability and consistency to be able to keep this up and play enough games to get those hits.

  8. I'll say number six. There are some players who are currently playing that will never come close to 3000 hits.

  9. 300 carrere hits its pretty amazing...but with the level of competition from pitchers in japan takes away from it..... 8 seasons over 300 is more of an accomplishment....

  10. Its a tie between number 2 and number 6 for me, since they kinda go hand in hand.

Because 200 hits per season in 8 straight seasons! cmon!  Thats ridiculous.  You cant cheat your way to that type of number year after year after year.

The 30 steals per season aint something that spetacular anymore.  The 100 Run, is really dependent on the team he plays for.  The fielding percentage over .900 isnt that great since he plays outfield.

Maybe for number 7, Ichiro with the most hits in one season topping George Sisler's previous record.

  11. the most impressive stat is the single season record for most hits in a season that he broke .

    262 hits wit a  .372 avg
