  1. a. grasping a block.

fine motor skills involves small muscle groups of the body ie. fingers, toes and gross motor  involves large ie. legs, arms.

  2. grasping a block.

  3. Motor skills are divided into two catogories, the gross motor skills and the fine motor skills. Gross motor skills involve larger muscles and movement such as walking and running. Fine motor skills involve the use of smaller muscles to do more delicate task such as writting, or picking things up. Children develop motor skills from the midline out. This means that an infant will gain cordinated movements in their arms before they develop skills in their fingers. Of the examples that you gave rolling over, crawling and climbing stairs use larger muscels and are less refined then picking up a block. grasping a block requiers smaller muscles.

  4. grasping a block... fine motor skills involve using small muscles.  The other 3 choice would fall under gross motor skills... using larger muscle groups.

  5. a) because it only requires the use of small, discrete muscles. All of the other choices would be examples of gross motor skill because they require the use of larger muscle groups.
