Which one of these is a static IP address?

I have a wireless adapter feeding off an upstairs router/DSL modem and this is what I see when I run a command prompt on my IP configuration:

Link-local IPv6 Address

IPv4 Address

Subnet Mask

Default Gateway

Which one is the static IP or do I have a dynamic IP?

  1. when u r using an ADSL router the ip address of ur computer is a private address assigned by the router dynamically ( unless u have turned off DHCP in router. Only for Business broadband connections ISPs will give Static Public IP. this will be assigned to ur routers WAN port. to know ur public ip visit www.whatismyip.com when ur connected to internet

  2. Unless you have paid extra for a static address it will be a dynamic public address. This will bear no relationship to the addresses you are viewing, which will be private addresses. These are provided by your router. The IPv6 address is unusable as currently there are almost no sites with working IPv6. The IPv4 address will be dynamically provided by the router to your machine. The default gateway will be set at the router and is its' own address, this has to be fixed for the system to work. The subnet mask is the filter used to control what groups of addresses can use your network.

  3. static ip address means your isp give you a permanent ip address

dynamic means your isp can change your ip address periodically

    Link-local IPv6 Address & IPv4 Address tells you whether you have a 4 or 6 digit octet

just refers to what you ip address is, but you can not tell whether its static or dynamic just from looking at the numbers

Subnet Mask - tell you what network you are on for your isp

Default Gateway - tells you the ip adress of the dhcp server giving you your ip adress

  4. Normally for default gateway will use static IP and the rest can use static or dynamic IP.

  5. If you have static IP address you will know because your ISP will have to tell you it and they charge you extra for that. If you don't know it and they didn't tell you and you are charge the regular internet monthly fee then you have the regular dynamic address that most people have. Also there is no way to tell just by looking at the numbers. If you have DHCP enabled they you have dynamic ip address if DHCP is disabled and you have or their is specific address written in place then you  have static ip address.

  6. IPv4 is your computers internal or local IP address.  If you run 'ipconfig /all', you will see a line called 'DHCP Enabled'.  If this says yes, then your wireless adapter is obtaining an IP address dynamically.  If it says no, then you IP is set statically and will be the same until it is manually changed.

Since you are connected through a router, the router's external interface is set to the public IP assigned by your Internet Service Provider.  The router's internal interface is given a private or local IP address.  Most routers have a built in DHCP server responsible for assigning IP addresses to the computers on its network, so the IP address of your computer has nothing to do with the IP address assigned by your ISP.
