Audi R8, well built, beautiful, German, fast in a straight line and in the corners and because its German, you know its a car that.........can be overpriced but still make you want it :D

The Koenigsegg CCR is not the fastest street legal car.

The Bugatti Veyron is 1001 hp. And now it comes as a convertible.

Koenigsegg CCR. its the fastest stock street legal car in the world. the whole chassis is carbon fiber and tops out around 260 mph with 806 horsepower.

For a super car at a reasonable price I would choose the Audi R8. I presently own the new style Audi TT and have driven an R8 as a demo. It is a truly great car to drive and if I had £85K available I would buy one. Obviously there are more exotic cars which I would like to own but the R8 is attainable.

For the money I'd take the C6 Z06.  It is hard to beat the styling, performance capability, and daily drivability value.

If money were no object I'd want the Audi R8 but I'd have to add a turbo since the factory 420bhp rating seems lacking in a mid-engine supercar of today.  It should have at a minimum of 500bhp.

The Zonda and CCX are a bit over the top and probably scary to drive but are pure exotica.  I'd wager they are worth every penny.  On the Top Gear episode of the CCX, Clarkson mentioned that one was driven in a road rally and was pulled over in Texas.  The driver received the highest MPH speeding ticket on record.  I forget what it was exactly but somewhere between 220mph and 230mph or so.

The GTR with it's all wheel drive is usable but I think it is overweight and too practical (2+2 layout) for a proper supercar.
