Which one of those statements agree with modern science?

Neither does very well. Better wording would be "Water is essential for all know living organisms." I suppose you could take number 2 to mean "Life likely originated in water", which is in line with the current thinking.

But keep in mind, "modern science" isn't an opinion, it is more of a method of thinking that helps you keep an open mind and be objective. No, it doesn't always keep everyones mind open or make them objective, but it does help a great deal.
