I am saving some cash so I can by a slightly used 03-05 susuki gsxr600 or the yamaha r600. which one should I get? main use is beeboping around town and traversing through winding mountain passes and stuff like that. by far the r6 is the best looking bike, and I am leaning towards that one, but I heard the medium speeds is harder for it or rough. what do you think? they both fit me nice, but I havent had a chance to ride any yet. What do you think about either of them and why one over the other?

  1. Overall, the R6 is a more comfortable bike to ride around town, but GSXR is better on a track. I am a motorcycle mechanic and have ridden almost every sport bike imaginable, and if I was going to buy a bike in this class it would be the Kawasaki ZX6R (636). Although they have to be de-stroked to be race legal, the ergonomics are phenomenal.

  2. In addition, I think that in general, Yamaha build quality is a lot better. I never had either, but had an FZ6 as a second bike, before getting an Aprilia.

  3. take them for a test ride b4 you buy. i would prefere the r6 though

  4. Never had an R6 (due to it been fugly) but have owned a Gixer 6 (and 750) They are great bikes. They spent most of there time on the many tracks we have here in England, so I cant comment on " beeboping around town " .

I dont even know what that means.

Put this in the NON racing section, (as this has nothing to do with racing)  and I'm sure you will get more results back.

  5. r6

  6. The performance abilities of the bikes are pretty comparable with the GSXR600 being a hair faster - for your purposes I doubt you would tell much of a difference.  I personally would go with the GSXR but if you like the looks of the R6 better, go with that.  Both are solid bikes.

  7. My husband read the question, and basically said (he's a bike guy, I know nothing) that it depends on what you like. He said he personally doesn't like the look of the R6 in comparison to the GSXR600. He would have chosen the GSXR600 instead. There are differences between the two bikes, but if you prefer the R6, I would go with that one.
