Which one should I use against the elite four?

I don't know which one I should take on the elite four with. Lapras knows ice beam, but Hitmonchan can use ice punch. Which one's better?

Lapras got high defence but low in damage. Hitmonchan has high offensive power but low defence. But if u are against the elite 4, i'd say offensive is more important as defensive can be replaced with lots & lots of revive and max potion. Its no point really defending your pokemon without inflicting much damage to your enemy while you can wipe them off with your greatest damage before they destroy you. This is somewhat like a deathmatch. Well, at least in my opinion. Yeah, Ice beam does lots of damage but its highly limited, slow & low in accuracy. You cant possibly use that to defeat the elite 4 as some of the enemy that you will face might also be immune to it. Hitmonchan has the advantage cause it can learn various states of attacks such as ice, steel, water, fire... which literally renderred effective to most pokemon.

lapras has ice beam which is stonger then ice punch. if lapras has more hp and is at a higher lvl use him

It also depends on level and other moves. Usually Lapras is better, but you didn't give enough information for me to be sure.
