  1. I see your dilemma.  The Penney's collection is very cute!

Let's stop and think about what you NEED, though.  In other words, if you had to design your own furniture pieces, what would they be?

I take it you have a queen-sized bed?  (The Penney's bed came in twin and full; you said you had to get the Ikea bed instead).  If there's no chance of you replacing your bed, let's work with that in mind first.

I assume you have the room to yourself.  If this is the case, you don't need a table or night stand on BOTH sides of the bed; use the space for other more practical things.

Do you have a closet that can accommodate most of your belongings?  If not, what KIND of storage do you need most?  Drawers?  Shelves?  Bins?  Cabinets?

My best advice: don't confine yourself with 'sets' of furniture.  Maybe you can pick and choose specialized pieces from Ikea that will better serve you over the course of time.

And remember ... the furniture is there to be functional.  STYLE comes with what you do to the space insofar as color scheme, accessories, etc.

    Hope this was helpful!
