  1. Depends on the speed...

If you're driving at high speeds, you'll get better gas mileage with the windows up and the AC on.

If you're driving at slower speeds, you'll get better gas mileage with the windows down and the AC off.

But doing this only makes a 1-2 MPG difference in gas mileage.

  2. i would say #2 because with your windows down you catch air in your vehicle and takes more gas to push I'm not sure but i think your AC is battery i don't know i hope i helped

  3. Also depends on the vehicle and engine in question.

For example,,, my neighbors little sub-compact thing, with the tiny little motor, that gets great mpg,,,,, is challenged by the extra load placed on the engine by the AC.

My 383 cubic inch gas sucking, loud *** racket, pavement crushing, V-8, Detroit Beast,,,, doesn't even know the boat is behind it, nevertheless if the air is on.  The MPG sucks no matter what.

Either way,,,, the biggest factors effecting your mpg,,,, are your own driving habits.  Not the AC.

  4. they proved its the same

  5. On the open highway - windows closed and AC on

City streets - windows open and AC off

  6. For best MPG:

HWY speed - AC on and window up.

STREET speed - AC off and window down.

The BEST - AC OFF and window UP.

I was out today and was just going for a short drive. The above was kind of moot because it was so hot I could not drive with the AC off (which I normally prefer - regardless of cost).

    Good Luck...
