  1. They are equivalent.

  2. ummmmm....derrrrrr........ummmm....errrr... I dunno.

  3. They both weigh a pound so both are the same--the pound of feathers may be a HUGE pile of feathers while the gold may only be a handful of nuggets but they will weigh the same.  This is a trick question.

  4. they weigh the same

  5. They weigh the same though if they were dropped, they wouldn't fall at the same rate because of air resistance. Feathers take up a greater area, so air resistance has more affect on them... but seeing as they are both a pound, then they weigh the same though it would take more feathers than gold because gold is more dense.

  6. they both weigh a pound

  7. Weigh it yourself, a pound is a pound, is a pound.

  8. A pound of feathers is the heavier.

1lb of feathers is 'Avoir Dupois' = 16 ounces.

1lb of Gold is 'Troy' = 12 ounces.

(The feathers will however have a greater volume).

  9. Of Course, a pound of Gold (Au)- Au means "Aurum".

A piece of Gold is more heavier than Feather's.

See characteristics of Gold at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold#Charac...

  10. Feathers.  Gold is measured with Troy ounces.  Feathers are measured with Avoirdupois ounces.  An Avoirdupois pound is heavier.

  11. Because you are comparing mass (the amount of matter in the substance) and you have equivalent masses, one pound of gold and one pound of feathers will weigh the same...You'd just have a lot more feathers than gold to make up that one pound.
