I just started practice last year and buying my 1st putter. My mom got me the Titleist red X3, but after comparing i think it's kind long for me since i'm not tall.

which one should i exchange to? i read many reviews and ppl recommend different ones... but out of Odyssey, Ping and Taylor Made, which would be a good choice to start on? thx

  1. Scotty Cameron makes great putters - I have one myself. Trust me - the feel of the SC putters won't be like the feeling with the rest.

  2. The length of club you use has nothing to do with your height, it only has to do with the distance between your hands and the ground.  If you are short, your arms are probably also shorter so they are the same distance from the ground as someone tall with longer arms.  Titleist makes some of the best putters so equipment is not really your issue.  You just need to practice a lot to develop the feel for distance and gain confidence.

  3. That's not a bad club, but what you should focus on is fit.  Almost all putters are 35", unless you order it online or at a pro shop.  If you're on the short side, you might need a 34", 33". or maybe shorter!

If you don't wanna spend the $$$, you can always have your old putter retro-fitted so that it's the right length.  Let a pro handle this, since he/she can do it and maintain the feel of the club.

  4. Get customed fit for a Ping Anser i-series. It is a great putter at a great value. It is mix balance so you can get a good feel for later.

  5. You have named some good choices.  The only way to find out which one is for you is to try them out and pick the one that feels best.

Some people like heavy putters(me included), and some people like lighter ones.   Also, the offset of the shaft is different on putters.   I prefer a minimal offset, but look at Tiger; his has a typical offset and it seems to work for him!

  6. have a golf repair shop shorten the shaft on the redx , golf shops on a trade in eill rip you off big time . best way . look at used older putters ,it may be there for one dollar . just have the shaft shotended . for 5 dollars . what you have is as good as it gets .

  7. Its really up to you, but odyssey are really good choices for beginners, because they have a bigger sweet spot.

  8. Titleist/Scotty Cameron is one of the best putters made.  Have your shop cut down the shaft and re-grip the putter you have.

  9. i think ping is a very good putter for a beginner

  10. I personally prefer the odyssey. I used the same Wilson putter for over twenty-five years and then last year switched to and odyssey and never putted better!

  11. It is toally up to you and how it feels, but I really like the odessy putters, Ihave had 3 differnt styles and they have all been fantastic. They line up to the hole squarely, and it comes off the face cleanly and dead on target! They are also not a bad price. You can also get them in good sizes, cause i am not tall either, and I have 32'' and 33''  putters and they are great! It is better to be shorter than longer, because longer will just caught in a jacket during you putting stroke!

  12. That's very hard to answer because its really up to you.
