am planning to buy a used minivan, I am undecided what i should get i mostly see Ford-Windstart, Dodge-Caravan and Chrysler-Town and Country. There many options, specially a Ford which is fully loaded from 2000 with 82,000 miles but i heard Ford is not so good.

  1. Dodge-Caravan that is what my grandma has its a 99 and its still good

  2. You heard correctly. Ford is not so good. A friend of mine had a Plymouth van for some years. The mileage was way up on it even though it still ran good, and she bought a Ford. It ran well for almost a week and then the thing was plagued with problem after problem. It overheated more than once, a computor went out on it not long after she bought it. In short, the vehicle was running her ragged financially.  My choice, personally, would probably be a Chrysler Town & Country. I'd try and get something with less than 82,000 miles on it if you can swing it financially.

  3. Why not look at something more efficient like a Mitsubishi Delica? No problems with Ford per se, but I've found Japanese vehicles (minivans, cars) both used and new, better off in the long run.

  4. If you buy the Dodge or Chrysler, buy one with about 75,000 miles on it (that way you'll know the transmission has already been replaced).

  5. I am a big fan of the Town and Country in general. The Dodge is just a less well equipped version of the Chrysler. The Windstar is not the worst vehicle in the world, but not as good as the other two. I believe the Windstar has proven to have the worst resale value of any vehicle made in recent times.

  6. the Ford is much worse than the Dodge or the Chrysler but

    they are not perfect either.

if you look at repair records

the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna cost more to buy but require much less maintenance and require fewer repairs.

saving you money down the road.
