  1. i think i'd choose hurricane, i can deal with hard wind and rain, i don't want the earth shaking and things falling on me and i definitely don't want to be like Dorothy in the Wizard Of Oz with my house spinning around

  2. I would choose a Pacific Northwest "hurricane."

Most people are completely unaware that the Pacific Northwest (specifically Washington & Oregon) can be POUNDED by storms just as ferocious as the hurricanes in the Atlantic/Gulf of Mexico areas.

The difference is our storms come in the winter.  So along with the rain, storm surges, we can also have titanic amounts of snow & ice.  Perversely these storms often also bring warm air, which melts the snow extremely rapidly, and causes huge flooding problems, as all the melted snow rushes down mountainsides.

Hurricane Katrina's average winds (not the strongest, just the average) were 135 mph.

One of the storms we went through had average wind speeds of 152.  Storms on the Pacific Coast are rarely named.

Storms do not bother us.  So hurricane like storms are just fine for us to ride out in the Pacific Northwest (no way I would be stupid enough to live below sea level in New Orleans).

Of course we've had many, many earthquakes, living in the Ring Of Fire.  Earthquakes have never been a big deal for us, just a pain in the neck.  The last one we had of any size was the Nisqually quake of 2001.  It was a 6.8 in magnitude.  It cracked the cement in our garage in half, and raised part of it up about 2 inches.   Earthquakes are annoying, as they are likely to cause damage to homes with cement floors, and to chimneys.

I don't like tornadoes.  If you get a large one going over your home, you can kiss your home good-bye.  We've lived for a while in the high mountain desert area of Idaho.  Lot's of smaller tornadoes here.  Last year one went dirrectly over our house.  It only took one storm window off the house, but put dust and dirt EVERYWHERE.  Would prefer not to be in a large tornado.  If I did live in Tornado Alley, I would have a bermed, or underground house.  No way would I live in a house where the entire house could be ripped appart.

Living in the Pacific Northwest, I've also been through the eruption of Mt. St. Helens.  So with that volcanic eruption, we had earthquakes, lahars, and ashfall.  The lahars did not affect us, but we certainly felt the weeks (possibly months) of earthquakes, and had ashfall.

Natural disasters simply do not present much of a problem for us.  Our houses are built above flood levels, and well constructed so earthquakes don't send them crashing down.  We have far too many emergency preperations to ever be stressed.  Even if a storm managed to completely rip the roof off the house, we could remain warm, dry, and fed.

  3. i'll check out ure other ones in a minute.

well i would choose earthquake because, there is 30% chance of surviving... im very scared... we are about to have a GIANT one where i am right now.. i hope it doesnt happen... !!

    wat would u choose?

  4. I'd pick earthquake, cause then at least I could find a stable structure to get into. Hurricanes and tornadoes seem to be more devastating.

  5. Earthquake because tornadoes can pick you up like a ping-pong ball and a huricane has various things that could and probably will happen...

and all you have to do is get under something, or stay away from tall buildings.

  6. Either hurricane or earthquake.   I've been through a small hurricane and earthquake....thats the only reason.

  7. Earthquake.  I bet if you asked this question much earlier you would get different answers.  People fear less what they have already experienced.  So pick a time when it is 8 pm in Florida and I bet you get more people preferring hurricanes.  I don;t know if anyone would prefer tornadoes.

I can't answer your other questions as your questions are closed.

  8. Earthquake for sure.  I'm from Cali and most earthquakes are small and don't really hurt much.  maybe knock done grandmas plate collection.  But for the most part earthquakes are more liveable and are easier to clean up.   less what and less scattered things around.

    Hope this helps good luck

  9. earthquake its fun when the world shakes :)

  10. earthquake..we don't experience tornados and hurricanes in our country but based on the news, usually a tornado and hurricane is more devastating..

  11. Hurricane. Its predictable enough to keep safe in if you have half a brain. Tornado is very unpredictable and much more powerful(in a small area). Earthquake is also unpredictable.

  12. hopefully none will happen...

  13. I'd Be a earthquake cuz I know alot about them lolz

  14. an earthquake i dont know why but i have been in a few before.. not big but still an earthquake

at first your like whats going on but find a doorway to stand in(its the most sturdy place of the house) and you should be good if its not to big

  15. earthquake. totally

surviving an earthquake is just as possible as it is for george bush to be a jackass, in other words, survival is in the bag.

  16. earthquake... since there is not guarantee that it would be the big one
