I have never worn inline skates but its been some 10 years since I roller skated. so I don't know how easy inline would be to learn. I also have a highly energized golden retriever.

  1. I have been in-line skating for years and highly recommend them, but try to get the feel for them, before you let your feisty dog pull you around, or you could just skate next to him.

Traditional skate wheels, as well as skateboard wheels (wide and flat) are VERY prone to grabbing and stopping you instantly, when you encounter gravel, sticks, and other debris.

Tapered in-line wheels can roll right through most of the ground clutter, without the skull busting sudden stop. ;)

  2. In-line skates.

Since the brake is on the back of in line skates, you will be able to pull back on the leash and brake at the same time.

In line skates are really easy to learn - just remember to wear pads.  I am sure you will be able to pick it up in no time.

    Good Luck.

  3. Hey I have a highly energized golden retriever as well! And i have inline skates, It is much easier to make sudden turns in inline skates just if you want to have a bit of fun with your pup. And inlines are not hard to learn at all.

    Good luck
