  1. It is really your call...but...if you put a child into daycare then public school you'll have money to put them in after school activities like gymnastics, dance, soccer, karate etc.

I have three grown kids (23, 21, 20)  I wish I would have kept them busier after school.  I am now raising my granddaughter and I am keeping her busy but not to the point of stressing her out.

  2. PUBLIC and DAYCARE

Kids are subjected to more children. Its good for them to have friends of all backrounds and not all wealthy either.

  3. A lot depends on your child.  Is the child more of a hands on right brained learner, then montessori is a good option.  Personally I would choose a private pre-school rather than a public pre-school.  In a public pre-school the children, and they are quite young at 3, will be treated as other students in the school with a regime & rules that is not suitable to many 3 yo.

However, please consider that many pre-school are academically driven these days & unneccessarily so.  Ask yourself what is important for your child to even be attending such an establishment.  Sooner is not always better.

Those who state that their child was "ahead" of the class in K, 1st, 2nd grade due to an academic pre-school will be surprised to know that most kids who are academically ahead by these grades even out with other students by 3rd-4th grade....simply b/c they won't work ahead of the class, they will just know what other students are being taught.  Which can lead to boredom and behavioral problems.  (I am a Pre-K-8 educator)

My youngest will be turning 3 yo in a couple weeks and will attend a private pre-school at a church, 2 days a week.  I had turned down several pre-schools b/c they were academically driven (must write their name by the end of the yr, must hold scissors properly, must know ABCs etc.--there are no MUSTS for a 3 yo).  She is attending a particular establishment b/c it represents itself as a "playschool" not a pre-school.  Take a look at what Dr. Raymond & Dorothy Moore have to say when they discuss "Later is better than sooner" in this regard.

If you need to have your child taken care of while you work, or other (as I do for a few hours a week) then consider which would work best for your particular family and your specific child.

Best of luck in your decision.

  4. i would say daycare

but good luck in making a good choice

  5. I think if you are eventually going to send your child to public school, you should start out with public preschool.  I was sent to private school and then  switched over in the 2nd grade.  It was a really hard transition.  The private school I went to had the students learn at their own pace.  When I got to public school, I was behind.  Also, it's tough making friends later when everyone else is already established.

However, if the public schools in your area aren't good, then I'd send the child to private school for as long as you can.

  6. to me is daycare for 3 yr old. public presch might be a good place for a child to socialize with other children of different background. but, private presch might offer more attention that a child needs. the best thing to do is to check both public n private preschs and see which environment is best for the child and more affordable for you.

  7. The best way to decide is visit by yourself and then with the child

    Look at

    Is is licensed

    Is it clean

are the kids interested and happy

    or bored and acting out

    is there enough to do

how does the teacher interact with the kids

    Are the kids ALWAYS sitting

and the teacher always giving them

    some type of lesson

or do the children have some choice over their activities

At 3 almost all the activities should be child's choice

    exceptions would be

    1. Story time

    2. A circle time where the children might

    - think about and plan their daily activities

    - sing songs

    -  play a game

    -  focus on formal learning about a interest or theme

    -   spend time in a group learning colors shapes numbers etc.

         before reinforcing it through play

    - talk about their day and their play

You know your child better than the teachers

    YOU ARE THE EXPERT

If your child is safe and happy Any of these options will help her learn

    GOOD LUCK

  8. It really depends on your own morals, opinions, etc. Children get good exposure in both environments, but a lot of it depends on demographics and such. If I knew where you were located, i'd give you a better answer. However, if you decide to go public and daycare, I always suggest to look into their ratings. If they're low, then of course, no way. You can always find good public schools, you just need to be picky and ask a lot of questions! Same goes with private of course, but normally, they're better for your child because they have more regulations to work with and will normally have better equipment.

    Best of luck!

  9. 1)  Depends on the school.

    2)  Depends on the school.

Another way to think of it:

    1)  Depends on your child.

    2)  Depends on your child.

    Maybe even another way:

    1)  Depends on the teacher in the classroom.

    2)  Depends on the teacher in the classroom.

Maybe you could even involve the administrator:

    1)  Depends on the administrator.

    2)  Depends on the administrator.

OR Maybe it depends on the classroom environment itself and how well it's set up, the overall school atmosphere, your child, the teacher, and the administrator all at the same time.

Or maybe they're all equally great, but the private school just has one more puzzle.  Or maybe the public school is near a duck pond.  Does the Montessori school have actual Montessori materials?  If not, it's probably just using the name.  Go with the day care.  Unless the day care is more expensive.  Then maybe the Montessori school is a more realistic option.

Now the question becomes what if you go to a Public Montessori School?  Or a Private Daycare?  Is that better than a Private Montessori School or worse than a Public Daycare?

Do any of the teachers at these schools have a background in computers or automotive mechanics?  Trust me...it's helpful to have your teacher know what he or she is talking about when your computer or car break.  And imagine the hectic life if your car's computer breaks.  Oh..thank goodness you chose the right school.  Or did you?

Are you getting my point in this response?

    Matt

  10. I'd go for a daycare for a 3 year old. A bit more carefree.. not strict. Good luck! Always a delicate decision

  11. neither - each have their own uniqueness to offer depends on the needs of the child/ren

  12. This should be listed as 4 separate categories. Clustered answers will confuse the data.

  13. private and montessori

  14. private preschool

  15. i have no clue haha sorry

  16. I went to private school until 2nd grade when I then went to public school I was well ahead of just about everyone up until about 7th grade. I'm glad that I went to private school because it started my education off on a very good foot. I'm also glad that I switched to public school because of the interaction with all different types of people.
