  1. Um, it's the spleen.  Although I would argue that the kidneys are much more bean-shaped than the spleen... the spleen stores red cells for sure.  In some animals, it contracts to release red cells upon increased demand for oxygen.

  3. It is the spleen. There are two types of tissues with in the lobules of the spleen. There is white pulp, & then there is red pulp which fills the remaining spaces of the lobules. This pulp contains numerous red blood cells, which impart its color.
