  1. It is actually the starfish, believe it or not.

Molluscs and Arthropods are both protostomes, while Echinoderms and Vertebrates are both deuterostomes.

The distinction is in early embryonic development of the intestinal tract: in protostomes, the opening which develops into the gut starts from the mouth, while in deuterostomes, the opening develops into the a**s.

  2. The grasshopper because it is closer to humans in its taxonomy.  All come from the animalia kingdom, but the clam phyla is mollusca, the starfish is echinodermata and the grasshopper is arthropoda.  If you compare the characteristics of each of these phyla you will see that humans are more closely related to grasshoppers than the others.  Echinoderms are radially symmetric, molluscs have shells, grasshoppers have more than two cell layers.  Humans, chordata phyla, also have more than two cell layers. You can compare more characteristics at these websites and see that grasshoppers are clearly more like humans.

  3. I would say a grasshopper, since it has legs, arms, a head, a mouth, eyes, and overall more in common with humans.  All these things in common mean that grasshoppers and humans once had a common ancestor, which had all these common traits.  And as the species seperated because of mutation and natrual selection, they kept the traits in common.

    Hope you understand the concept.
