Question:

Which other exercise apart from pushups help in swimming?

Elsewhere in this forum, someone answered that pushups are helpful for upperbody movement. Which other exercise is helpful for swimming? Do other cardiovascular exercises improve swimming directly? What warmup exercise is one supposed to do before swimming?

  1. Well i used to swim 8 times a week. A good warm up before swimming is running for a few minutes, get a skipping rope skip for a few minutes, do a few press ups and sit ups and then stretch off. If you want an excercise to do to improve swimming depending on how old you are you could go to the gym doing weights to improve your muscles, but make sure you don't over do it. I swam for Bath University swim team and made the nationals twice. Since then i no longer swim because i find Bmxing much more fun. Swimming took over my life.


  2. Before swimming you should stretch.  Obiviously do a warmup.  Running is great cross training that improves swimming.  Other exercises besides pushups the stretchy bands for resistance training

  3. i would love to answer this question, but i dk. i will check back on here, cause i am a swimmer, and i want to know what ppl say too.
