For the first outfit, I love the fade of jeans you chose, and I especially love those metallic flats.  I do love the burnout tank, but I'm not a big fan the tank top over t-shirt trend.  I think it would look better with a cardigan, maybe?

The second outfit, I love the accessories (the purse especially) and the pants, but the accessories is a bit much isn't it?  And in my opinion, I think that the shirt is sort of dorky looking.

I would go with the first outfit.

I think the white shirt is to plain. The purple zebra print tank top with those skinny jeans looks really cute. I think that would the best choice for your first day of school outfit. :-)

umm..both are cute. although i think i have a slight preference to the first one, it just seems a little cuter and fresher to me :) however the second outfit would like nice any day too!
