  1. Do all your rubbing down, filling and preparation first.

Undercoat the woodwork, (and any further coats except the very last gloss or satin finish coat.)

Two coats of emulsion to ceilings (cut in round the edges and light fitting with a brush, fill in with a 9 inch roller)

Two coats of emulsion to walls. (cut in edges with a brush, fill in with a 9 inch roller, one wall at a time)

    Gloss woodwork.

(a college trained decorator would put one coat on the ceiling, then one on the wall, then the second on the ceiling, then the second on the wall, but it is not that necessary)

  2. Your choice i undercoat the wood first then emulsion the walls and  gloss last.

  3. Well, I always gloss first and then emulsion as it is easier to wipe off emulsion mistakes from the gloss than it is to clean off any stray gloss mistakes from emulsion.

  4. Emulsion the walls first, gloss skirting last.

  5. First undercoat the skirting. It does not matter if you splash the wall.

If the wall needs two coats of emulsion, do that next, wiping splashes off the skirting as you go.

Then gloss the skirting and WAIT until it is completely dry.

Then get a small container of water with a cloth and emulsion the wall. Wipe off any splashes of the emulsion with the damp cloth. Emulsion is water-based and will wipe off dry gloss pain, which is oil-based.
