  4. When in the need of assurance I always turn to the Psalms.  One of my favourite is Psalm 46:

    God is our refuge and strength,

       an ever-present help in trouble.

    Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way

       and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

    though its waters roar and foam

       and the mountains quake with their surging.

           Selah

    There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,

       the holy place where the Most High dwells.

    God is within her, she will not fall;

       God will help her at break of day.

    Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;

       he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

    The LORD Almighty is with us;

       the God of Jacob is our fortress.

           Selah

    Come and see the works of the LORD,

       the desolations he has brought on the earth.

    He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;

       he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,

       he burns the shields with fire.

    "Be still, and know that I am God;

       I will be exalted among the nations,

       I will be exalted in the earth."

    The LORD Almighty is with us;

       the God of Jacob is our fortress.

           Selah

    There are so many problems that we have to face in this life, how much better would it be for us to remember the power of God at these times as described in this Psalm, to remember that He is the one who created the Heavens and the Earth out of nothing, by the power of His mighty Word.  Life becomes so much easier when we let go of our needless burdens and place them all at His feet saying: “You are in control of all these things. I will trust in You alone.” No matter how much we feel that things are out of control, they are still within God's control.

    Yea though I walk through the valley of death, I fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and staff shall comfort me.

    Thou prepareest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

  16. Rev 22:22 always comforts me the most.

  17. Isaiah 53 - To me it brings comfort to know that the Savior suffered not just for our Sins but he experienced many other pains that we feel as God's children. Knowing that helps me understand that He will bring us comfort because with his stripes we are healed...

    1Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

    2For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

    3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

    4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

    5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

    6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

    7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

    8He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

    9And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

    10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

    11He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

    12Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
