Which part of Barcelona should we stay in on a city break?

We plan to go to Barcelona for a city break and want to see the main attractions whilst we are there but don't know which is the best part of the city in which we should find a hotel.

Stay near Las Ramblas, but not on it. It's the most central part.

Do stay in the city area, it's well worth that little extra.There is so much to do and so many things to see,and it has the best fish restaurant overlooking the harbour.

Lived out in main land Spain and Barcelona is one of the best places. Hope you have a great break.
