You must get into more detail than just differentiate between West and East. Each federal state, and in within them, even each region has its own lifestyle. You could spend a lifetime to find out which suits you best, and you'd never have to travel far. Even regions close to each other may differ widely in their customs, traditions, and way of life.

To me, Berlin (West AND East) has the best lifestyle, as it's an international cultural melting pot. But I exchanged it for a quiet life in rural Bavaria, which also has its advantages. So your question is impossible to answer.

Its ALL ONE COUNTRY now.

Has been since the wall fell. Sure the East had a lot of catching up to do in some areas for sure but all areas have their good sides and bad sides to them be it West or East.

That is like saying which is better North or South of the Mason Dixon line.  All have much to offer now. I have seen the growth and change in the East over 20 years and it HAS progressed.

SO both can have good lifestyles!!

each part has its own characteristics and none of them could be described as better contrary to the other because the decision whether west or east germany is based on your personal point of view and priorities. of course, the differences are not that obvious, especially after the unification (even though the culture IS different, but still the one is not superior to the other).

on the whole, east germany has a bit slower peace of life (but this does not apply in all cases)
