highlight your upper check bone and use a lowlight/bronzer for just under your check bone.  This will help give your checks structure and volume.

THe checks are the most flattering part of the face and can subtly make the most dramatic change in the way you look.

basically highlighter is used to excentuate parts such as cheeks, eye brow bone, and just above the top lip.
