I am socially progressive on issues like same-s*x marriage and the judicial system, but I believe in a free private market.

Which party would suit me?

  1. You think just like I do.  I always found that the 'old' Conservative Party best represented my interests, but not since they formed the 'New' Conservative Party.  I am now more incline towards the NDP.

  2. Do you believe in free speech?

    For EVERYONE?

Most who describe themselves as Socially Progressive mean that they want free speech, if it is "politically correct".

What REALLY matters to you? What do you REALLY care about?

Below I have provided a link to a truly pro-Canadian discussion board. Peruse it and enjoy.

  3. go for conservative, canada getting to liberal

  4. you sound like one for the marijuana party

  5. Most likely from what you have said, the Liberal party or the New Democratic Party would be the one for you.

  6. The one with the most kegs.

Party just doesn't mean as much here as in the US, very few people belong to one, most people vote based on the local candidate anyway.

  7. If the Libertarians were more than a fringe party I would say them.

The federal Liberals and the New Democrats don't believe in property ownership.  Trudeau left property rights out of the Charter and both parties vote against putting them in every time it is brought up.  So they are not especially free market oriented.

They do both believe in short jail sentances and paroling crimminals, I guess that is socialy progressive.

The Conservative Party in it's present form is only a few years old.  Traditionally they are less socialy progresive.  They believe that the liberalised judicial system is the reason our violent crime rate is rising.  They let the opostion have same s*x marriage but they are unlikley to be decrimminalising marijuana any time soon.
