Which person do you think everybody deserves to be like between Rolando and Jade and why?

Rolando: He is a poor unemployed man from a poor family and he still lives at home with his parents, he happens to have a learning disability and his only means of transportation is taking the city bus or getting around by bicycle, sadly people would snub him off cause of his immaturity, him lacking common sense, his child like appearance and him getting wound up and very excitable and he doesn't know how to choose his friends wisely, plus he also takes alot of pride in his friendships, plus he has always been having a hard time finding employment

Jade: She is a wealthy and successful businesswoman frpm a super wealthy family and she is working for the public relations company and she has owned 3 new vehicles in her lifetime, owns a condo overlooking Lake Ontario, owns alot of nice clothes, gets to go on alot of shopping sprees, has alot of friends, gets to go to alot of rock concerts and vacations, she is a really nice person who doesn't take any guff from anybody and is a really good friend to have.

Jade is everything I wanna be and Rolando is nothing I wanna be, as for me I deserve to be treated like Jade, I've been on the same path as Rolando has before and I'm aspiring to be on the same path as Jade one day and I would love to live her life and earn her rewards.

  1. I wouldn't want to be either person.  Jade has a lot of things and is a person people like - but that seems superficial.  She sounds like an incorrigible yuppie who's had everything handed to her - she probably doesn't even care about ethics in public relations or anything important because she wants to own more things so people like her.  Sounds like a spiritual, emotional and intellectual dead end.  As she piles more and more things into her life, they become more meaningless, and nothing will ever be enough after a while.

Rolando sounds misunderstood, but at least he's interesting.  There's nothing wrong with relying on others if you are trying your best, though it's true having a learning disability, have people make fun of him, or not be able to find a job wouldn't be easy or enjoyable.  The streets are an interesting place if you know where to look, and with some resources (he doesn't need a shopping spree or several vacations), he can lead a happy life.

If I were Jade looking down on Rolando, I'd probably have to change my life so I see more than a dichotomy of rich and fabulous and poor and pitiful.  Rolando looking at Jade, however, would do best to look elsewhere - Jade's life is not something I would want for him even if I could grant it.

  2. Sure, your way of persuaiding Rolando to be like you is such a good job. Rolando would rather be six feet under than be you (smile)

  3. s***w em' both. I'd rather be myself.
