  1. Gerbils by far! Ferrets need lots of attention and care and they are expensive to buy and to keep.

  2. gerbils, by far. i've had both, and ferrets need about 5 hours of out of cage play time a day. gerbils are fine in their cage all day. you can just pick up gerbil droppings once every couple weeks, but with ferrets, you need to do it daily.

  3. gerbils taste better

  4. gerbils definitely.

ferrets need a lot of attention, and out of cage play time. they are also more aggressive and can hurt you through playing. Their cage must be cleaned every day and they have musk in their skin which causes the actual ferret to have a strong odor. it is a lot like keeping a cat in a cage.

Gerbils are rodents so are naturally easy to take care of. their cage only needs to be cleaned every week, and they dont require as much attention. they tend to have a lot of fun by themselves. gerbils are a lot smaller so they generate a lot less poo and gerbils dont pee very much because they retain a lot of water, seeing as they are desert animals

  5. Gerbils

Gerbils are rodents, eat vegetables and grains, do well in cages, live shorter lives and are not prone to as many cancers and GI problems.

Ferrets are weasels, carnivores, must have a high quality animal protein food, must have several hours a day out of cage for exercise and enrichment, high percentage get Adrenal disease and cancer.

  6. gerbils are far easier.  Give them food and water and they can stay in their cage.

Ferrets are more work and more expensive but also more social, interactive and fun.  They are not aggressive.
