Mussina vs. Texas

Greinke @ Baltimore

Gavin Floyd vs. Cleveland

Innings are precious in this league, so I don;t want to waste them on a bad start. Any thoughts?

  1. Greinke and Mussina if you can take those 2

Greinke is usually good for innings when he gets some run support and Mussina is winning better than  half of his decisions but mark his higher ERA as a potential "?". I dropped him a while ago and Ive scouted Floyd but am happy with my roster with pitching which does include Greinke

  2. Mussina has been on a roll  but Texas has a good offense.  Floyd has pitched pretty good this year and he is up against a non-existent Cleveland offense.  I don't like Greinke because Baltimore has been hitting pretty well most of this year.  So he's out.  I guess if I had to choose only one matchup here, it would be Floyd against the Indians.  But I think you could go either way here.  I'm just selecting on lack of opposing offense.

  3. Mussina vs Texas - he has a good record against the Rangers. in fact, he won his two starts against them last season with ERA 2.45 and a stingy 0.73 WHIP. but the problem is he is struggling at home this season (4.22 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in ten starts this year)

Geinke @ Baltimore - he is winless in four career games against the Orioles, two of these as starters with a whopping 10.64 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. whats more he will be pitching at Candem Park for the first time, which we all know is a hitter's haven.

Floyd vs Cleveland - he gave up four runs against them in six innings at Progressive Park last month but he struck out seven batters and didn't issued a single walk. but lately, he is struggling, in his last three starts, he gave up more than four runs in each of them.

with limited options, I will roll the dice only on Mussina tonight.
