  1. in summer time san fransico cause weathers nice san diego gets humid and unbearable if your not used to that.you cant breath bad

  2. DUH!! San Fransisco ! Height Ashbury ! oh and remember "if your going to San Fransisco be sure to wear some flowers in your hair..." :D

  3. I am a San Francisco person myself but objectively I think either city would be interesting.  There's a lot of interesting stuff in both places.

For the life of me I don't know why people keep mentioning Haight Ashbury here.  It is just a bad neighborhood, there is nothing special about it beyond a couple of interesting vintage clothing places and a few good cheap restaurants.  Also Fisherman's Wharf. The Fishermen all moved away about 30 years ago and all that's left is tacky tourist shops. But there are still plenty of cool things to see in San Francisco.

  4. That's a tough one!

Here is a VERY brief list of how the 2 cities differ :

    SAN FRANCISCO :

One of the world's cultural masterpieces

Far more interesting neighborhoods (Chinatown, North Beach, etc.)

    Far better cuisine

    The intellectual atmosphere is everywhere

    Amazing views

    Cooler in the summer, temperature-wise

An hour away from the Wine Country

    Access to the Redwoods

    Quick access to nearby Berkeley

    SAN DIEGO :

Beaches rank among the best in the U.S.

World famous Zoo and Sea World, plus Lego Land

Less expensive casual dining.  You can dress more casually, too in semi-formal places

More places to park your car

Access to Mexico (if you don't cross the border, there's San Diego's own Old Town)

    Access to deserts

    An hour from Disneyland

Two hours from L.A. & Hollywood

    BOTH CITIES :

Have great parks (Golden Gate in SF ;  Balboa Park in SD)

Very good public transportation (although I'd give the nod to San Francisco)

Fantastic weather.   San Diego's weather isn't as "humid" as the East Coast.   Or Houston.  Certainly bearable, unless you're from the Pacific Northwest.

    FINAL WORD :

Buy a couple of travel guides on both cities.   Or read up online or in the Library.   It really comes down to what your plans are (what you want to do most next summer), how much time you have, and your budget.   Both have great choices, depending on your own personal agenda and preferences.

    MY VOTE :

San Diego, if you have more time, want to hang out at the beaches, and dress more informally.

San Francisco, if you're into culture, the arts, and prefer cooler temperatures.

  5. if you're going to be in california, you should really try and see it all.

i say you go to both.

both are great cities.  i love in san diego and i love san francisco.
