I have 2 weeks of vacation time that I want to spend with my boyfriend. He mentioned he wanted to visit the Mayan ruins and stuff and I want to relax at a quiet private beach. Any suggestions?

  1. I went to Cozumel for a week and it was beautiful. I am getting ready to go back in a couple of weeks.I also went with my boyfriend and we stayed at the Melia All-Inclusive. Cozumel is a little island off of the Yuctan about 45 min. south of Cancun. There are lots of Mayan ruins on the island and on the mainland which is about a 40 minute ferry ride away. Playa Del Carmen would probably also be a wonderful place to stay. It is a beautiful beach. The snorkeling at Cozumel is unforgettable. I did a lot of research of where to go and I believe that I made the right choice. I work with a lot of people from Mexico and they all said that the eastern side is the way to go. They told me that the western side is very touristy and the water is getting really dirty and that the eastern side is a little more expernsive but still has an authentic mexican feel to it. I would agree with what I saw. There are a lot of options available there. It was fun, relaxing, beautiful, and well worth the time and money.

  2. Here's my favorite hotel on the Riveria Maya--Posada Luna del Sur.  Click the link below to read traveller reviews of the hotel.  The down side is that there are only 12 rooms and a lot of people want to stay there.  You can take an air-conditioned bus trip to Chichen Itza (2 and a half hours). The ruins at Coba and Tulum are closer.  Click the second link for a map of the Yucatan and all the maya ruins.

  3. I would go to Mexico City and let your child walk around alone
