  1. According to Al Gore it will probably be Antarctica next week.  Wow 1922 gee must have had allot of pollution from cars ...err wait a minute, very few cars back then. HM MM!!


  2. *Unofficial* temperatures of as high as 160 F have been recorded in places such as central Texas when cumulonimbus clouds have collapsed, sending down a burst of air which warmed adabiatically and abruptly raised already hot summertime temperatures.  

    Outside of collapsing thunderstorms, Death Valley (-282 feet MSL), the Dead Sea (-1.371 feet MSL), interior Australia, low-lying areas in the Sahara Desert and portions of Iran would be the areas most likely to break the high temperature record.  The Lut Desert in Iran recorded a surface temperature of  159 degrees F in 2005, but is not comparable to listed air temperatures of other continents.
